
Biography:
Full Professor of the History of Science [Historiografia da Ciência] at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), where he has taught since 1998. He served as coordinator of the Graduate Program in History at UFMG (Capes / Proex – rating 7) (2018-2020). He served as Vice-Director of Faculdade de Filosofia (2010-2014), among other administrative positions. He holds a Bachelor’s degree (1989), Master’s degree (1993), and Doctorate in Philosophy (2001), all from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Universidade de Boston (EUA) (2009-2010), at Universidade de Viena (Áustria) (2016) and at Universidade de São Paulo (2017). His work spans History of Science, Historiography of Science, Epistemology, and Philosophy of Language, with a particular emphasis on the historiography of science [Thomas Kuhn, Ludwik Fleck, Alexandre Koyré, etc.]. He has published the following books *Handbook for the Historiography of Science (Springer 2023)* (Edited with Marlon Salomon), *Wittgenstein e os Filósofos: Semelhanças de Família (Fino Traço 2020)*, *Um papel para a história: o problema da historicidade da ciência (Ed. da UFPR, 2017)*; *As Teias da Razão: Wittgenstein e a crise da racionalidade moderna (Argvmentvm, 2004)* and *Wittgenstein: Linguagem e Mundo (Annablume, 1998)*, in addition to having organized five other books in the fields of History and Philosophy of Science, and published book chapters and articles in specialized journals both nationally and internationally. Between 1999 and 2020, he was one of the Coordinators of Scientia: Grupo de Teoria e História da Ciência da UFMG, serving as editor for the Scientia/UFMG imprint (2004-2008). Co-founder and Editor-in-Chief (2016-2023) of the journal Transversal: International Journal for the Historiography of Science [historiographyofscience.org]. He has supervised five doctoral dissertations, sixteen master’s theses, and three postdoctoral supervisions. Currently, he is supervising three doctoral dissertations. He also supervised numerous undergraduate theses and final specialization projects in the history of science and philosophy (Themes in Philosophy) at UFMG. He has served on examination boards, delivered lectures, and presented papers at various universities in Brazil and abroad (England, Switzerland, Austria, France, and Poland).
